Get Creative: There are many different ways to study than the usual note-taking and highlighting. Pick alternatives that suit your learning styles like mind-maps, pod-casts and even teaching others the content. Also try using online study tools like Quizlet
Practice, Practice, Practice: Get your hands on any old exam papers and practice questions from the subject and familiarise yourself with the structure and format. Your teacher should be able to let you know where you can get your hands on previous exams or questions. Practise answering the questions within the specified time limits and check your answers against your notes to make sure you've got them right.
Be Funny: use humour to illustrate the concept just taught or trying to be learnt. This way, humour acts as a study enhancer, allowing you to remember the material (which can't be learned unless it is remembered) more easily. Additionally linking humour throughout work requires high-order cognitive thinking which in turn will lead to effective study.
